Those are some fantastic Blues, definitely came out very nice, very clean at least in the pictures provided.
As an update on mine, she's been shipped to her long term storage for the final build (location withheld for obvious reasons, I don't need her being taken for a drive without me)
but the...
Figured I should give some updates.
So the door strip down and re-spray went well. I would give it a solid B+, a few spots where the paint gun spit a bit of dried clear coat crud out of the nozzle (only so much cleaning and soaking in acetone will clean out the passages) but overall not too bad...
I haven't noticed much difference in the color due to the temp or humidity. I'm running a medium slow UR50 thinner for the basecoat which is rated from 70-80F at 50% humidity. My shop doesn't have A/C or much in the way of ventilation besides a few box fans. But I'm also not seeing much...
update:
stripping it all down to the basecoat is the only option left now.
Trying to do a spot repair failed epicly... looked good at first but the shade of orange is just a monster in of itself...
The trouble spot now is that with the underlayer to the new sprayed spots being the orange color...
So I just started clear coating the yesterday and have run into what I am hoping is just a small problem easily resolved by some elbow grease.
The orange color I picked is a custom mix of Tangiers and Omaha orange, was literally the only way I was able to get the right color. The problem I've...
That is one damn fine looking bird!
You have an excellent grasp of what makes them special for sure. I've run into quite a few folks that harp'd changes to decals and trim on my bird as insults to the original design and style. All they ended up with was 1 fewer person to talk to and being...
5 years... 5 long damn years. 5 years, 3 restoration shops, 2 shells, a donor body, and almost a full year doing it myself and she's finally almost ready for final paint.
All that's left is to wait for the store to match the color samples I gave them, clean the garage and booth spotless, mask...
Agreed definitely go at least 16. By the way, if you run wire for your high beams and you're not using LEDs or some other high efficiency bulb, then upgrade the power leads to at minimum of 14 for those and no less than 10 gauge as main power to the fuse box. It was terrifying how flimsy the...
A/C is great if you're in hotter areas and are looking for a nice comfortable cruise. I wanted to put A/C in mine, but at the time Classic Air didn't have the set-up they do now, so I just opened the windows and drove faster!
if you have the room under the hood and are tired of sticking to...
Quick update in case anyone else runs into this.
This is based on measurement of the trunk flat face (for the standing bird) and the photo provided by Russ above (border of paper compensated)
Check your ground strap from the engine to the body/battery. Most burning wires and poor connections are because the ground is not getting a good connection. As weird as it sounds I had a set of rear axle bearings go bad because the ignition circuit had no good ground and the only way it got...
Hey it could be worse, you could be missing the "F" shaped wind lace pieces that go on either side of the quarter window post.
Those are worth more than all the gold in fort knox these days. They're impossible to find and no one is making them. I had 4 of them (1 set), lost 1 after a trip to...
Sounds like the return on the booster is getting stuck. Had the same issue in my superbee. brakes locked hard one day and wouldn't let go until I pulled up on the brake pedal opening the release valve in the booster. Yours is clearly not THAT bad, but sounds very similar.
On an empty road...
Passion performance also has good hardware (not the cheapest option though).
Gonna be the black sheep of the herd and say "not all made in USA stuff is all it's cracked up to be". I had a speedo cable from an OEM source snap right in the middle after a few miles. Sorry to say it but the 60's...
