Bad Starter from Web Store

Purchased a new lite-weight starter from MoparOnlinePerformance for around $250. It took a very long time before it finally arrived. There was no paperwork at all in the shipping box. When I got it, it was obvious the box inside the box which contained the starter had been opened and resealed multiple times (not a good sign). I tested the starter and it was, of course, bad. I also took it to a shop and they confirmed it was bad.

Finally found a way to contact MoparOnlinePerformance and went through an extensive back and forth trying to make arrangements to return it. I returned it but it took a long time for them to acknowledge the return. Well, to make a long story a bit shorter, this all happened last summer (Aug) and I still haven't got my money back. A very frustrating experience to say the least!

Note: MoparOnlinePerformance is a multi-level 'Resaler' out of New York. Totally web based, no actual physical address, store or products. Just thought you guys should be made aware.

I used to work in the parts dept at an IH dealer.They carried Delco Remey starters and alternators. There were times we would go thru a stack of them to find a good one.But at least there wasn't the hassle of having to try and contact someone over the phone..the bad was explaining to the POed trucker at the counter why his new starter didn't work

Think that is a sad story. Sorry for you luck. Yea sometimes things aren't what they seam. Have U tried summit racing or one of those stores. Wish you luck and thanks for the heads up on this supplier.

Was at the Goodguys show in Pleasanton last summer and my started died went I went to leave. Good old AAA towed me home. Ordered a new Powermaster starter from Summit that evening. It arrived the next day from the Reno warehouse. So within 24 hours I was up and running. Why would anybody shop elsewhere?

Imo, I’d cut the Texas store a little slack, It’s their newest facility and may not be up to usual speed yet.

Bingo on Sparks, I’ve been a visitor to the original store in suburban Akron many times. Occasionally (believe it or not) they’ve actually been out of stock on something I needed/wanted. Free shipment from Sparks or suburban Atlanta, usually 2nd day air. Love their service.

Don’t forget Jeg’s, Honest Charlie, Mancini Racing, or Speedway! All first class operations with superb customer service that I’ve personally dealt with and can recommend without reservation! :thumbsup:

Oh yeah! It’s now owned by Corky Coker of Coker Tire fame. I’ve had the complete guided tour of the museum, restoration area and ye olde speed shoppe!

If you are ever in the Chattanooga area put it on the must do list! Another attraction is a WW II amphibious duck ride on the river, all Great folks! :thumbsup:
