OK, I'm cruising the interweb just looking at Roadrunners, like I always do. Not that I'm looking to buy another one, I'm not. Got my hands full and pocket empty with the one I have now. But I find this really nice car and it has all the documentation and photo's of the Vin, Fender Tag, and even the Motor stamp. It's a 69 RM23 St Louis car with a 383ci that is "matching numbers". Now I'm far from being an expert on this stuff but have been burnt on the "matching numbers" thing and have learned to look more close. Again all for fun and my continued education. Here's are my questions: 1st: the engine stamp on the car is the entire Vin number? 2nd: It's a manual 4-speed car with buckets and a console, was this an option?

That's what I thought about the engine vin. There are these swirl marks on the metal where the stamp is, looks ground off to me and the new stamp looks too fresh with the entire Vin #.
Didn't know about the other option for the manual w/console, now I do.
Thanks

Location
AZ Desert,
For 69 models a full VIN through most of January of 69. That is a nice stamping and should be identical to the one on the trans

The add for the car does not claim that the Transmission is matching, just the engine, and there is no photo of a transmission stamping. My car is not matching engine or transmission, but the engine stamp only has the 8-didgets, not the full Vin of the car it came from. So I did not know if a full vin was legit or not. Apparently so!
