UDATE-

Well, this is getting to be the TRANS from HELL................LOL

Going on TWO years since I had this "TCI" TF727 trans professionally installed.........
A few days of being parked in my garage revealed that the TRANS had leaked fluid all over the garage under the transmission.
Further investigation revealed the TRANS was OVERFILLED by 3 quarts. The MORON professional mechanic "CROOK" apparently did NOT know to check the fluid in NEUTRAL.

Once I remedied this situation, the car RAN GREAT for a while..............THEN it started leaking via the bell housing. The LEAK was constant while the motor kept on running.
Further investigation revealed that the TORQUE CONVERTER was leaking at the welds. SUMMIT RACING did NOT want to replace it even though I had less than 500 miles on the transmission. They had me call "TCI" to 'cry a tear'. The TCI tech was great, even though it had been over one year since I purchased the transmission package via Summit Racing, they approved the T/C replacement...........I called Summit Racing back and to my surprise, I had the new T/C at my FRONT DOOR the NEXT day.

Remember, I NEVER HAD drain back issues with the original T/C.

Well, now I take the transmission out, replaced the pump seals and installed the NEW 2400 stall 'Breakaway TCI' torque converter. The car ran great..........it is the TCI STREET FIGHTER auto/manual transmission.

ONLY problem is that after the car is left parked for a couple of days, the FLUID drains back (you can read the dip stick) and upon a cold start, the FLUID 'blows out' the pump vent tube causing the fluid to draine out of the inspection plate in the bell housing. After the initial start, the trans. does NOT leak anymore no matter how many times you stop and start the car again. It will NOT leak out until the car is left alone for a few days. ANOTHER WORDS, THE TRANSMISSION GETS OVERFILLED FROM THE FLUID DRAINING BACK FROM THE T/C. It acts exactly the way it would if one overfills the transmission.

SOO, I decided to purchase the same shift kit that "TCI" uses on this transmission and I purchased it from "TCI". I also purchased the "Sonnax" Lube-Regulated-Pressure-Regulator-Valve-22771A- and replaced the pressure valve that was in the valve body. I also LEFT OUT the accumulator blocker rod that was in the transmission. The kit indicated that the blocker rod was for COMPETITION and for heavy duty and street use to leave it out. I wanted the street use so I left it out.
I also adjusted the front and rear bands- the secret here is to locate an 8 POINT socket to use on the Square head adjuster.
Put the valve body together and kept my fingers crossed that this would SOLVE the DRAIN BACK issue. SURPRISED! Not ONLY does IT STILL LEAK upon the initial cold start. But now, the transmission WILL NOT up shift. NOT manually nor left in drive.
First I could NOT even get reverse.......One more quart and adjusting the TV cable solved the reverse issue. Not having my helper available, I just used a stick to hold the gas pedal down and pulled on the TV cable and adjusted the cable.

My next step is to have my mechanic helper operate the gas pedal while I take a good look at the linkage on the carburetor and make sure there's no binding, etc..
I also noticed that there's a hole in the transmission where one places a SPRING to hold the TV lever in full activation. I think I will place a spring there and then have my mighty helper hold down the gas pedal for WOT and then make my TV initial adjustment.

Reading a little about what might be causing my dilemma, one of the many indicators could be a stuck governor. I called the TCI tech today and that was his prognosis, a stuck governor.
I read that another culprit could be a leaking VB. I'm leaning towards the cause is having replaced the pressure regulator valve. I think this valve is to be used ONLY in a stock VB. Mine has already been modified. Bottom line, I did NOT have this problem of the transmission NOT shifting until I left out the accumulator blocker rod and installed this "Sonnax" pressure valve.

So, unless it is a TV linkage adjustment issue, which will solve my problem of not up-shifting, I will be removing the VB again and putting it back together like it was.
Bottom line, the DRAIN BACK issue persists. If it still leaks after I put it back together, it has to be either the T/C or PUMP bushings. NOT looking forward to taking out the transmission again......................
Stay tune for future updates and do NOT hesitate to chime in..........."I'm flying by the seat of my pants on this MOPAR".................NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN...............LOL

Mike

LAUGH, how ABOUT "CRYING"................I swapped out the 4 speed for this 'monster'...................
Rather have the MANUAL/AUTO option..........I guess I'm getting old...............LOL

Well, story of my life......................
Further research revealed that the "TCI" shift kit and the video I looked at on YOUTUBE are USING an earlier version of the pressure valve adjusting procedure.
My valve body uses the "C-3763" tool to make the adjustment. NEEDLESS to say, I have the throttle pressure adjustment all screwed up right now for using those instructions. I'm in the process of taking off the pan and doing the adjustment the correct way. NO, I will NOT pay $175 US for the C-3763 tool. Will do it without and improvise.
Keeping my fingers crossed this will make things good again.

Getting to become very familiar with this TF727.....................LOL
