Well, the more I think about it, I should have kept the four speed
transmission. This "TCI" Street Fighter automatic is getting to be the
transmission from "hell"!

Everything was "pichee keen" until the torque converter sprung a leak. I'm
on the THIRD torque converter and that issue was resolved. Problems ever
since.......different issues of course.

I purchased a used STOCK valve body, installed it, got GREAT oil pressure ( 60 PSI ) but
the car would NOT move in forward gear.

Sent the original valve body back to TCI for testing. They claim it had a
bad throttle valve spring, wrong spring, and tested the unit, cleaned it
up and returned it to me.

I reinstalled the unit, got 50 PSI ( the truck VB produces 60 PSI ). The
car moves forward but one has to give it a LOT of gas and get around 2,000
RPM to get the car going. After the trans warms up, it looses line
pressure.

I hope it is NOT the clutches. I will most likely have to take the
transmission out again and this time rebuild it.

I have a feeling that the bad torque converter caused me to ruin the
clutches.

SO MUCH FUN....................LOL

THE SAGA CONTINUES.....................

Since I last posted, I have found out that the PRESSURE REGULATOR VALVE on the stock VB I purchased is off of a 1978 440CI truck and it is NOT the same as the one in my VB. The truck STOCK VB was putting out 60PSI line pressure. My VB puts out 50PSI. ONLY problem is that the vehicle would NOT move with the truck VB installed. Even though it put out 60PSI line pressure.

I installed the original VB with a new "Sonnax" LUBE PRESSURE REGULATOR VALVE..........I ONLY got 49PSI line pressure and once the FLUID reached NORMAL temperature, the pressure reading DROPPED to 37PSI.

I have been using SYNTHETIC Chrysler recommended fluid. According to the "TCI" tech, this is my problem. He told me that the TF727 should ONLY use NON synthetic fluid and recommended Dex/Merc fluid. I was ONLY able to drain 7 of the 11 qts in the tranny (I have a deep pan). No drastic change resulted. I'm HOPING that the LUBED pressure regulator valve is the culprit. I suspect that this LUBE valve will work with a STOCK transmission but mine is modified ( "TCI Street Fighter"; manual/automatic)and that may be causing issues with the use of this valve. I will soon find out because my next step is to REINSTALL the REGULATOR PRESSURE VALVE that came with the VB.

I also found out that the FRONT SERVO seals where leaking. I replaced the FRONT servo seals and upgraded the REAR servo. I purchased a new FRONT band but did NOT replace it because the one in the trans looks new. I adjusted both bands................
If the transmission still SLIPS from a dead stop, after installing the VB with the original pressure regulator valve, and assuming the VB puts out the correct line pressure, then it has to be worn out clutches............The next step would be to remove the transmission and installing new clutches..............NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT..............

"OH, SO MUCH FUN!
