After pulling out what little hair I have left. Sending starters back to Powermaster and giving them about as much grief as they could handle. Figgered it out finally!

Starter would engage ring gear. Starter would spin and not turn engine over. Powermaster checked units and replaced drives and checked on their dyno.

Installed again(!) same issue. Talked Qbird into watching while I tried it.

Weird! Never ran into or even heard of.

Ring gear spinning on the flywheel.

File for reference.:BangHead::beep:

Believe it or not, that was the first thing that came to my mind. 'Cause I have heard of it before!

With the force it takes to put the ring gear on the fly wheel never would have thought of that. We have pulled them off and flip them over before when the teeth got bad. Sorry to here that. This means pulling a lot of stuff to get the fly wheel off. :(

I’ve played with cars for 60 years. I’ve never seen it or even heard of it.

A fellow club member, retired after over 35 years as a dealership wrench has never heard of it either.

One learns something new every freakin day! Thanx, for your input!

“Stuff” is already off. I’ve been fighting it for a looong time!

Had starter mounted to the scattershield block plate to check it. Everything was out of the way except clutch. Thanks, again.
