Just an FYI to anyone who is rebuilding their Carter AVS like me, apparantly a change was made to the diameter of the accelerator pump plunger between 1968 and 1969. I purchased a rebuild kit thinking my carb was the original, but after a check of numbers, turns out I have a 1968 carb. The 1968 plunger is smaller( 11/16") and the 1969 plunger(3/4") will not even fit down the pump well. Hope this helps someone in the future
