Did you check out the Runner gassers someone posted. Think I saw a raised hood. I would just surf the web runner drag cars. May get an idea from one of them. Good luck with the project.

long search, but I found a 5" high sixpack-style scoop (as a seperate pice to the hood), at year one of all places.

the edelbrock performer dual plane im currently running is 4 inches high, + 1" spacer puts me at 5". The tunnel ram is about 9" high. If my mathematics is correct, the tunnel ram might just fit in underneath this scoop. here is a dart with a similar approach that i managed to find some pics of. Straight outta hotwheels if you ask me!

I was also 50/50 - until I found those photos of the dart. Now I just need to find someone to help me fab it into the hood.
Take note of the 4 hood pins across the front though - Ive got a feeling the hood was not real sturdy, especially after they cut a big ol' hole in the middle of it.

Find a hood you don't care too much about and let 'IMG_3504.JPG er rip Tater Chip. Tunnel ram may slow the car down a bit but it's all about the look.

Found some repro bolt on brackets made for a 70 Challenger, that look like an extension of the hood support pad. Now mocking up a fab for a bracket to bolt it to. On the drivers side, theres a factory hole punched in the radiator support that I will bolt to. Considering putting a matching hole on the passenger side so the brackets can be symmetrical. Didnt really wanna put any new holes, but it seems like the best solution for a clean job. That is killer man. One hell of a set up. It reminds me of the 440 we had in a street car but it was a mid high rise in take. Two four barrel holley's. It was a beast. Good job buddy. :thumbsup2:

after all that searching, they were only down the road (about 15 miles away). They were for sale for so long, he ended up dropping the price by about $500. Still expensive, but $500 is $500!

I agree with that one. It is odd that they where that close to you. You neve know sometimes. Have been on the computer till three in the morning looking for hard to find parts. I never got luck enough to have them just up the street from me. Good job buddy. Russ.

Found em on ebay, turns out they were at an old speed shop not too far away. I like it when the guy selling the speed parts is also "period correct" hahaha

Have you got them set on the motor. Know that will help make killer HP. Year's ago got a road supper charger at a seed shop. Every time I went in it was sitting by the door. After a while of many time being in their getting part's asked the guy. What is the deal on that supper charger by the door. He told me a guy ordered it paid for it and never came back. So wondering what it cost asked if it was for sale. He told me it had been paid for except for the shipping. Then asked what motor did he order it for he said a 350 Chevy block. Luck would have it had a 350 in a Vet. Low pro file and it fit grate. Did not have to do any thing to the hood. Best deal I ever got. Had an electric switch when off ran like a four barrel. Switch on it was like having two four's. Post some pic's of the set up when you get it all hooked up. :thumbsup2:

Not mounted yet, just putting in bigger 1/2" fuel lines and an electric pump to feed it. Also a regulator just before the carbies to make sure pressure is the same through both 4 barrels.
The car is also getting a hemi 4-speed (thank you Coyote!), gearvendors overdrive, and dana 60 - no more unwanted loud noises at the track!
Unfortunately though, when we took the heads off, found a small crack in a really unpleasant spot, so decided to put the "fix it" money towards a set of better heads. And we all know how that story goes....

Sound's like you have the plan. Don't say no more loud noises. Their is always a weak link. Just to say. I know had so many thing happen when street racing. Thought it was bullet proof but it proved me wrong. Wish you the best and hope to see pic's of it on the road soon. Russ.
