I've owned my current Roadrunner 8+ years. A couple years ago the previous owner of the car contacted me and we had a nice discussion about the car, me learning about its history and where some of the non matching parts came from, and him knowing where it wound up after he sold it to a flipper. We talked about the Build Sheet and he said he had it, but thought it was lost. Recently this showed up in my mailbox, he found it. The guy who had the car before him decided to painted the interior of the car black, and got overspray all over it as he failed to take it out and protect it. I'm taking it to a document restoration guy this morning to see what can be done with it. Minimum, he'll be able to clean it up a bit and put it back together as best he can and mount on a special paper.20190101_100358 (3).jpg

Broadcst sheet in puzzle form good luck with it
LOL, it's a lot like Humpty Dumpty. Dropped it off at a Document restoration company this morning and he said he's seen worse. So, that was encouraging. The black paint is the major problem, probably won't be able to remove it but the wash process they use will brighten it up and should be able to see what's behind it, or most of it. They could "recreate" the missing parts to make it whole, but I declined that option. It is what it is. For me, it's just fun to have it.

The Document restoration guy said he's seen worse, so that was encouraging. Told me not much they can do about the black paint, but with their wash technique it should brighten it up and possibly reveal better what's behind it. They will mount on a special paper and fit it back together as best they can. They offered to recreate the missing parts, but I declined, it is what it is. I'm happy to have it. My car isn't matching numbers, engine or transmission, and much of the metal has been replaced, I had to put new floors in it and the rear 1/4's had been replaced as they were lap welded inside the trunk with crappy welds and had to be ground out and repaired. So having the original Build Sheet is fun. It was pointed out to me what wheels and wheel covers came with the car, so that's cool to know.

Did you discover anything else that had been changed on the car since its initial factory build? I always find this aspect of it intriguing.

Haven't examined in great detail, and I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking at either. It will take some research as to the various codes. For instance I did not know that w11 meant "Deluxe Wheel Covers", then went and found them (on a thread on this page) to see what they looked like. w25 steel wheels, black paint. When looking at the picture of my first RR, I had the "Deep Dish" wheel covers on that - w15. Fun stuff. I hope the steering wheel information is still there, as I have the wood grain wheel currently, but it's not in such great condition. If its on the sheet might think about doing something with it. I'd like to know what rear differential gearing the car came with, as I don't think what is in there now is original to the car based on what is stamped on the gears. I'm not near as talented as you guys, my skill sets are limited and I don't have a garage and all the necessary tool when it comes to the restoration process and I depend a lot on others. But I really dig this research aspect of this and sourcing the OEM parts. Makes me want to do another car. I know me though and even if my intentions were to sell it when starting a project, I never would and even if I did, it would be a poor investment. Plus I'm broke after the first one. :luvplace:

This was a stroke of luck for you my man. So happy you got the build sheet. The only thing I have on mine is that the car was sold in Al. The dealer ship is no longer their. Then sold to someone in Fla. This was the second owner. A flipper bought it and sold it to me. So I am really the third owner of the car. After replacing a lot of sheet metal the car is a lot more sound than when I got it. It is a slow process but getting their. Hope to start painting the shell shortly. Good luck with the car think the build sheet will increase the price if you ever sell it. Happy for you Ronliv. :beep:

This is very cool a previous owner would do this for you. It always pays to find them and ask the question (s). You will have to post a restored picture of your build sheet, I am curious to see the results from a company like this.

Congrats on getting your build sheet back!

I don't have it back yet, but the company doing it is ACA Paper Restoration. Add a .com and you have their web site. The build sheet I got was really rough. The original owner, not the guy I got it from, really destroyed it by painting the interior of the car, seats and all. They can't perform miracles and have told me that it is likely the paint damage will remain. But they can clean it up, and put it back together and mount on what they call "archival paper". They told me mid-February.

Finally got the build sheet back from the restorer. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I can't read it any better than when I turned it over.
