Made progress today! I went to see a guy today about 20 minutes from where I live. he works on race engines from all over the world and is going to overhaul my motor and fix the transmission for me. that is all he does is engines and trannies and we are going to put hardened valve seats in it and he's going to check to see if it needs bored out and put a bigger cam in it and maybe a stall in the tranny a small one. I think I'm gonna have him put an electronic distributor on it. When he's finished, he'll run it on a diagnostic machine to make sure it's all good!

Sounds great. Secret is to have a clear idea of what you want engine to do. That goal determines what parts you need. Frequent problem is too big on cam or carb just because sounds cool. If he is a good engine builder that is what he really needs from you is the purpose. Give him that and you should be really happy with the results.:moparsmiley:

Quikbird, I just wanted a little bit bigger cam than factory and just a little stall put in it and he knew what I was talking about. Just want it to look and sound nice. your car looks very nice!

We use to put a street cam in our cars. It gave it a little more gap on the valves. Little more hp. Still they ran a little rough but not as bad as a full lobe cam.

Finding people competent to do what you need is hard. Glad you have someone close.
Thank you for your compliment, like most folks here it is a work in progress.

Quikbird, it seems like you have to dedicate your life to it to get anything done and you have to have deep pockets to get all the parts and everything that you need for the car. it seems like I work harder on the car than I did when I worked (and I painted aircraft)! take care.

I just want a cam a little bigger than what's in the car and I'm going to put a stall, just a little bit of one just to make it sound a little meaner it's not like it's going to get ran like back in the day. it will be a retired and re-done car just for looks and sound mainly. I might take it to a car show and put it in the parade where we live

Sound's like a plan. Yep love that sound. Still like to have it set you back in the seat. I am not building a race car either. :steering:
