Thanks for the kind replies.
Shipping turned out to be a real challenge. FedEx was my first go to because the buyer had a FedEx account. Over the course of 3 days and several phone calls to FedEx, speaking with a half dozen people, I got $ numbers from $180 to $2,200 for shipping! Unfortunately the lowest quotes were not quotes but guesses, and when it came down to it the cost was over $1,000 with FedEx.
On the recommendation of several forum members I called Fastenal, and got the lowest FIRM quote from them at $422. That would have required me loading up the crate and driving an hour away to the Fastenal shipping site, and the buyer would have had to pick up the crate from Fastenal near them.
YRC freight is a company I have used before to ship medical equipment freight on a couple of pallets, and the buyer had a friend with a YRC account. The online quote was $700, but through the account holder, they were able to get it down to about $450, and that included a lift gate truck to pick it up.
YRC had me stuck at my house from noon to 4:45 waiting for them to pick up the crate on the 23rd. When I called at 4:45 I was told that the pickup had been pushed back to the 26th! It would have been great if they would have let me know!
Once the 26th rolled around, I didn't wait to call. The first person I spoke with said my pickup had been rescheduled again, but I asked for the dispatcher and he said that they would pickup as planned, around 5-6pm, and the driver would call about a hour before he got here. The last drama was the driver informing me that he would NOT drive onto my property, even though I have a rock driveway that the truck can't hurt, so my wife and I had to get the crate down the 300 foot long driveway to the street! Fortunately I had the crate on a Kobalt 4 wheel dolly, and we were able to roll it across the rocks in the driveway.
YRC has been very good about emailing tracking information for the shipment progress, and I am glad the seat is going to a good home, and my crate will get it there safely.

It is quite a challenge to ship large Items. I used U ship once for a large item no one else would touch with out costing a fortune. They came to the house and delivered to the other end with no problem's. Yes I did insure the item about 20 buck's extra. :popcorn2:

Glad to here you had a good experience. Have bought from guy's here in the for sale list and was happy with it. It is a big help with all the people we have to help in finding hard to find part's. If not for the site I would never have found the outer upper frame rails over the door at roof line. Saved my bacon. It was a nice seat and who ever bought it made out good. :thumbsup2:

Thanks. The "funny thing" is that most (like 98% of) my time is spent on another forum, but I just "happened" to pop in here and just "happened" to tap "new posts" which I rarely do. That just so happened to lead me to read about the 70 Roadrunner bench seat that someone wanted, and I just "happened" to have finally got around to getting the bucket seats I had been wanting for years because they had 10% off and I had the money to buy them.
I haven't believed in "coincidence" since the 90s when I was saved, and while this is short of Devine salvation, I don't think any of this was a coincidence.

Devine intervention. Someone was praying for a bench seat and you where the instrument that helped deliver it. Things happen that no one can explain. Oh I think they call it the force. Nice car like the bucket seat's. Got mine from Scat seat's. Really like them. Reclining seat's are good for my bad back.

I found an aftermarket console company that has a variety of functional (USB charging port, cup holders, storage compartment) reasonably priced units.
Right now I am going to be the Guinea pig for this console, that is designed for a floor shift automatic B body.
I am going to indicate the required changes on a mock up unit they are sending me in order for it to work with a floor shift MANUAL transmission.
Various colors and styles.

I got the prototype console in my car, but I need to get the car out of the garage to have some room to work with it.
I am concerned that the straight, no console shift lever may not be able to work, but the goal is to see if that is possible while retaining enough height for the cup holders and storage area, and not to be at a weird looking angle.
I'll post a pic once I ask permission from the manufacturer.

Figure the manufacturer would love for you to help sell the product. Just wonder how that the shifter would work out. The console has an off set shifter so it will line up with the console. Got mine form Tony's. Good luck. Would love to see it in the car. :thumbsup2:

I cut 1 1/2" of length off the front of the prototype console, and 1 1/2" of height off of the height of the storage compartment. Both of those adjustments were to bring the horizontal bulk of the console down closer to the hole in the transmission tunnel where the shifter mechanism is.
The goal is to make this unit work WITHOUT having to buy the hard to find and expensive "console shifter" on top of the cost of the console itself.
I had to add back in about 1/3rd of an inch to the height of the rear of the storage area as a spacer underneath to bring the console to a level plane.
Here's one picture.

So how is the shifter working. Will it move enough to select the gear's. Just asking. It is grate to find a replacement console. Hope every thing works out for you. Keep us up on how the progress is going. Russ.

I made measurements and recommendations to the manufacturer for the factory 4 speed, basically shifting the hole to the right and slightly rearward. Since I have a Passon Performance a855 5 speed, the hole is going to be moved further to the right on mine since R and 5th are to the right.
It's probably going to be 5 months or so before I get the finished console, but I'm stoked to have it, and not have to buy a $360-$500 console shift lever.
