window felt

I have new window felt (catwhiskers) that I'm getting ready to install. My question is, the rear inside felt looks like it was originally installed with a type of staple and I was wondering what some of ya'll did to reinstall the felt.

Mine are all gone. I'm kind of wondering how all of them are installed. Does the trim panel (door panel for the fronts) have to be removed?

I’m dealing with this right now! It doesn’t make any sense because the staple holes on the new delta don’t line up... and they seem to not be the same contour. What did you end up doing???

I had the same problem, the staple holes didn't line up and the contour was off. I drilled new holes for the staples and reworked the contour best I could. Not real noticeable after it's all done

What about using trim glue instead of drilling holes. Just asking. If that would work. Just to add where did you get your felt and whiskers from.

EXACTLY! That seems like a lot of work and Sunday is almost over lol. Oh well... next weekend. P

i was also wondering about some kind of adhesive to hold it in place... not sure.

I thought about adhesive, but I didn't want it popping off after everything was pretty and done so I got out my drill

most aftermarket stuff dosn't line up.
theres always a slight difference, i kept my orig whiskers and they look great.
if i remember the staples staple to the door panel and the other sides just slide down on the sheet metal of the door. i did ruin my driver side because i am used to them popping out with a screw driver but they slide upward to remove

I was told by my painter friend that the new whiskers fit the new door's. That is why they don't fit the old door's. Which dose make sense to me. Russ.

what do you mean new doors? like new door skins? or reproduction doors?

Yes got door's from AMD. it is a lot of work when the door's are all rusted out at the bottoms. Just try to skin an old door with after market metal had enough problems with the rest of the car making that stuff fit. Short on one side and too long on the other. Not bent quite rite in places and the stuff want's too line up wrong every where. :BangHead:

yeah bought my rear bumper from them , "AMD"
lets just say i was disapointed in the quality.
nothing lined up the plate holes were off the backup light holes were off terrible quality, its like they dont even test fit stuff i had to re-drill everything.
Good thing i have talent with this stuff. oh and the plate light too was off lol fix your stuff AMD!! especially if your gonna have your name all over a TV show
"graveyard cars" craftsman ship has went down hill over the years.
all about the money not the quality of work put out "sell sell sell" i bet you the owners of this co do not even own a classic car hahaha

It might be you got a 69 bumper or 70. Think that would make the difference. Basket case put new ones on his 69 will have to ask him how it fit. Russ.
