Haven’t seen a set of those in 40 years and recall that flapper/counterweight heat riser for carb warmup. Those are the same used on the 440CID Wedge also. Never changed mine as I thought if they’re good enough for the 440, should work fine on my 383. Quite a science with exhaust manifolds and the push/pull exhaust extraction. And yes, you can definitely go too large on exhaust tubing and headers.

Those are big enough to get the horse power you want. Just up the exhaust pipes from them to 2 inch and you would be fine. The problem with headers is they are always leaking and put out a lot of heat under the hood. Header's are for race cars because you are always working on them any way. Standard exhaust manifolds are for driver's. They don't leak or give you problems for year's. Never changed to header's on my charger with a 318 and was out running every thing on the road. That little motor was bad ass. Yes had automatic with the slap stick. Got clocked on I4 at 120 MP by state trooper and still had pedal left to go. Trooper asked me where the fire was. If I had not slowed down to get off the interstate he said he would have never got me. I was leaving him in the dust.

D616DB61-D4FC-4471-B256-19D4BF08A9DF.jpeg Roger that on the 318 motor, wife had a ‘71 Duster no less. Hated to see that car go, damn winter salty roads here. And headers...... had a set and dual exhaust on our ‘67 Mustang Fastback. Loved that tinny exhaust sound going through pipes. And problems...... anything you can imagine, nothing like ball and socket and stainless tubing these days.

First to admit my road runner is long gone but not dead. Current car is ‘13 Boss Mustang but it has as named the road runner engine. Low horsepower for these days but can tach at 7K rpm. Road runner was about 5.4K rpm redline if I remember correctly. Engine supposedly develops 444 net HP. Love these mufflers, straight throughs of coarse- big difference from 50 years back. Only exhaust part I changed at all.

But wait, I’m sorry on much ado about nothing here. Supposed to be manifolds for sale and I’m sidestepped as I do way more than I should. One thing leads to another I suppose. Best wishes with sale.

They bring back those memories for sure Russ, why I was hoping I wouldn’t be too rejected on forum. Once in a blue moon may spot one at a show or other and heart palpitates (well somewhat). A green ‘69 GTX about 5 miles away but haven’t seen for awhile. Yes that Orange rr for sale is gorgeous.

All lot of forums do not allow for this kind of chit-chat in a FOR SALE Thread. We tend to be pretty loosey-goosey around here...but perhaps it would be better if you two chatted somewhere else rather than in this gentleman's ad...
