Well you found the problem with the carb it seems. They are like a swiss watch. Only takes one thing to through out the hole work's. My buddy told me to through away my Old 650 Holey when it was not working rite. But like you was determined to fix the darn thing. It was the floats and was not that expensive to fix. But you know those darn gaskets are not cheap either. If you put one together then take it apart you better have new one. Well like Bob say's now to your brake's. You know these old cars have a lot of problems and their are many. Wish you luck and enjoy that runner. Russ.
