Picking a color

I'm at the point on my 69 build I need to figure my color, car was originally Ivy green, but I'm trying to decide between rallye green or red, also have any of y'all ever seen a vinyl top car with the back window installed with a gasket ??

Big Block did a vinyl top on his post car. Might ask him. Oh don't think he put the window in yet. Have not seen a gasket for sale to use on the back window on a 69 runner. May be someone else has an idea. Russ. When changing this car from red to blue it was all taken off. Primed and then painted B5 blue. Green is nice Like red too. Maybe paint one side of a coin red and do a flip. The non painted would be green. Just a thought.

No gasket I did one a year ago

So it is just that tape they used. I have decided to use the 3m windshield calk just before putting the trim on. Around the edge of the glass and in the corner's at the bottom corners. that is where all the water gets trapped and trash. Those two little blocks will put some on them before putting them on.

I’m torn on your color choices... red Charger, green RR.... flip a coin.

rear window on a 69 RR use's caulking when they put it in mine the guy cut a v in the tip of the caulking gun so it came to a point when he started putting on the car . the trim in held in by clips that screw into the body and the screws have a seal on them so when you screw it in the body it seals around the screw .

Going to put a dab of butyl on those trim clip screws before in stalling them.

good what i do when i get water on the car ( rain) just take a air hose and blow around the window and if you dont have a air hose use the leave blower

Auto Zone sells it on a roll ,be sure to use the correct thickness or your chrome will lay on the glass to a tilt.

Got the back glass seal from part's mix. It comes with the window shim's also. Had to cut my shim's down to center the window.

That is correct, rubber gasket only used on the windshield. My Road Runner was originally Ivy Green. When I purchased it the color was B5 blue. Under the blue was orange and under the orange another coat of blue and finally down to the original Ivy Green. I had a 69 Road Runner back in 1969 (bought it brand new) that was Ivy Green, so I was pleasantly shocked and delighted to discover this one was actually an original Ivy Green car. With the new PPG metallic and clear coat, the Ivy Green just pops like you wouldn't believe, so I would go with the Ivy Green. You won't regret it.

Almost forgot to add a photo of my Ivy Green Road Runner. The car has not yet been polished or waxed and you can see it looks pretty darn good, so really think this through before you select the color.

You can "just barely" see it, but there is a single black longitudinal strip that runs the length of the car. Back in the day the stipes would typically be part of a décor package or just an added detail through the dealership. My original Road Runner came with dual white strips (quarter inch with an eighth inch directly above) and the strips, just like the optional hood stripes were decals and after a while with rain and washing they would start to peal off. In this case, I had the painter lay out a single quarter inch black stripe directly over the green, then four coats of PPG clear, followed by color sanding and polishing... so that the stipe cannot be felt to the touch and will actually disappear when standing at certain angles. The only decals on the car are the Road Runner decals and the 509 stroker decals on the hood scoop (not visible in the photo). In a few weeks I'll start the polish and waxing process to get it to as close to perfection as can be had. Believe it or not this car has always (from day-one) been intended to be my final daily driver. It'll get rained on and there will be paint and glass chips now and then, but I am (and always have been) a believer that these very cool cars should be seen and driven. Don't you just love sitting behind the wheel of your Road Runner and imagining the stories the car could tell you. Regardless of what color you end up with it has to be something that you like... things like color and other visible treatment are a personal thing... I just think the Ivy Green is such a beautiful and unique color. No other green prior to or afterwards looks anything like the Ivy Green. It's the touch of olive mixed in the green that gives it unique pop... especially when light or the sun bounces around and makes the color almost change around all the angles and shapes. Well, I sure have said way more than I had anticipate, but hey... love talking with other Road Runner owners. I'm including another photo of the car... the interior.... all leather (everywhere)

I’m liking those seats. They look great. Given my back, I’ve thought about and looked at some short back seats with some decent side bolsters to replace my originals. The ones is was looking at for an idea, on Summit, almost looked like could be factory.

Here's a shot of the back seat. I don't have a photo of the package tray, but the interior guy did a fantastic job designing and constructing the package tray as he did with the door and rear side panels as well. The seats and fold-down center armrest are original to the car. they were stripped down to the frames; media blasted and powder coated before rebuilding them back to finally laying down the black leather. The backside of the seats are also leather and the bottom portion of the B&M shifter and the steering wheel are from the same leather lot. I went with a stock-style vinyl headliner maintain some of the original look

What did the bucket seats come out of?? I've got a set that came from a 79 Diplomat that have the buddy seat with them, there low back with headrest,, I love the pattern the upholstery guy used
