The other one is not a fender tag, even though it’s on that format. It went under the carpet on the drivers side in 1967 Hemi cars. I bought a gtx from and older man who owned it since the 70’s and I new the car and it was. Or any kind of a fake. She;I took the carpet out there was that tag. I was told by knowledgeable people that’s where the factory put it.

It was never under hood by the real fender tag.

I don’t know if 68 even had them or not. Many changes for 68 like the vIn moved to the dash, the certicard moved from the, under hood pouch to the owners manual, etc.
Wow.....That's very interesting..One of the prior owners took it off and put it and both screws in a safe place for fear of someone taking it off while at car shows and cruise ins.I had it figured as someone come about a extra tag plate and stamped in his self to make it seam to make it more rare and possibly more valuable..I guess I'm losing a lot Faith in creabilty of people as I have got older ..Thanks for sharing your information and feed back !!!!!

If the holes are already in the fender I would just put it back their. It won't get lost. Think someone restored the car and moved it to the fender. Figured that was as good as place as any to place it so it could be seen. That is with out pulling the carpet. Just a thought my friend.

I guess that would really be best thing to do,if nothing else it should make for a very interesting conversation piece!!! Thank you Russ69Roadrunner

The problemm is that is doesn’t belong on the fender, so the ensuing conversation isn’t a positive one.

If I get that car, I may just have to pull back enough carpet on driver side and see if I can see 2 holes that match the ones on the plate..

This is probably what happened they replaced the floor pan. Which we all know it rot's out on all old cars. So if it was replaced then no hole's will be found. I can not see where you put it will make that much difference in the price of the car. At least you have it and it show's it is a Hemi. I would flaunt it so every one could see.

I guess I could do that as a little extra confidence builder for me,because of the extremely low #s produced, only 61 hemi Hardtop with automatics,

This tag was not screwed to the floor, it was just sitting on the floor with carpet holding it in place. Mine has no screw holes in the floor, and no screw head marks in the paint. The car and floors were on great shape.
