Everything was fine until a did a burnout and heard a terrible noise. The bolts holding the flexplate to the torque converter were hitting the backside of the dust cover. Why did this happen after several thousand mile of no problem? I am planning on replacing the stock bolts with ARP bolts that have a thinner head.

They coming loose?
No, they are all nice and tight. Funny, when I bought the car it was missing the cover, it was in the parts bin so I installed it and never had a problem for like 5 years. The ARP bolts have a head that is just as thick as stock. Still a mystery. Driving with out the cover, I'll just avoid gravel roads. Like I wouldn't anyway!

remember that under stress i.e burn out the flex plat dose what it's name is it flexed witch cough the cover remove it where you see the mark from hitting carefully bend toward the engine side a little bit so when you install you need to push it to the trans bell housing
