I have managed to figure out what every hole and cutout is for on my '70 RR. EXCEPT for one! It is a 4-speed, w/ air grabber, no a/c, manual brakes and steering, Rallye dash w/ a 440+6.

The hole I cannot figure out is stuck between the speedo hole (7/8") and the oval cut out for the clutch rod boot. It is .406" (13/32") in diameter. Can anybody help determine what this hole is for?

Thanks.

AZ Desert,
On my 69 there isn't much room for a hole between those two points I would bet it was added unless a ralley speedo exits in a different location. Get more opinions.

Yes that is it! It is the wire to the clutch switch for a '70 4 speed. Clutch has to be depressed in order for engine to start. The hole size on mine is .455". See attached picture. It is in a different place than your but looks to be in the same general area. Maybe was changed during the year of production.

Thank you for your pics and input!!!!

70 B5, do you happen to know your build date? Mine was Feb '70.

Where were the two cars built? Maybe a plant to plant variation as far as the exact location of the hole goes...? I don't know, I'm just spit-balling here...

There was another pic I saw of a '70 Charger built in Feb '70. He had the same hole as B5. Mine must have been built on Monday morning......:( My plant was in St. Louis.

I guess the question is if the Clutch safety switch was a mid year intro in '70 or was installed the entire year. I heard from a August '69 4 speed and has no hole in the wall for the switch wire.

Ok thanks. My plant is also St Louis and not sure why the hole is in a different position. Might remain a mystery for ever. Needless to say, I will use that hole for the clutch switch.

Looks like I may have the only '70 RR with the clutch switch wire hole between clutch boot and speedo grommet. Every one elses is above the speedo grommet. Does that make mine more valuable?
