Fuel Sending unit size?

I ordered a new Fuel sending unit and by my mistake ordered a 3/8 inch but need 5/16
I have a 5/16 fuel line and can make a good rubber fuel line connection from the 3/8 sending unit to the5/16 fuel line. Will this work OK. I Like the new sending unit it has a longer pickup filter bag then my old sending unit.

You have a return line on it that 440s and Hemi's use that will need plugged also

Yeah cause if you don’t gas will slosh out the line
