What cam is this- any guesses? My engine is an F 383, running well- no problems laying down lots of rubber. I've heard of a purple cam but not a green cam.

Yes, it is blue underneath the orange. And the grime is gone now too... Thanks.

I think Elgin used to paint their cams green. IIRC.

Thanks for the lead- I sent them an email, and with any luck they can shed some light on this mystery cam. BTW they have some interesting information regarding cam selection- the section on "Head Examination" is really good.

I see it's pretty darn hot in AZ- what temperature do you recommend setting my GA garage at to prevent further spoilage?

You need about 42 degrees to keep greens fresh which happens to be the same temp for a good cold

We have two of them on this site; "Bombastic Bob" and "Hydraulic Man"... But I don't think either of them are being invited to join the Justice League anytime soon...

With the valley pan out I can see "SCH" stamped in the cam. It could be the end of a word, or the complete id. Has anyone ever seen this?

Nope. Did some snooping on the internet too - hoping to stumble accross something. No luck.

This thought had occured to me however...:

No idea if they put such markings on their cams...guess you could call them if you wanted to...maybe they have been asked before and would know what it means even if it isn't theirs...
