My 72 clone has a little 318 with headers. Thinking of upgrade. Locally built 440 was $7500 and looked too much like a race motor. shall I go crate 392 or a nice 440 ?
I need to out run my CTS-V that has 365 at the wheels per dynojet. 78F15F39-D581-42E0-B902-D5149934B2B1.jpeg

Welcome, Jeff, how handy are you? 392 will require little more fab work. Needs fuel and fuel pump upgrade, return line, etc different mounts. 440 can drop in with new mounts and use existing fuel system

Welcome to the site. I would go 440. The crate 392 is just the beginning. They do not come with the electronics and as previously mentioned you will need a complete new fuel system.

I would choose the 440. 392 crate can work, but only with alot of work. There is a bloke down in Melbourne who specializes in modern hemi conversions, might pay to have a chat with him. He has dropped many different modern hemi combos into Aussie Valiants, which are mostly identical in the bones to US A-Bodies. I had a chat with Garry at a meet a little while back, real nice bloke.
