Greeting ladies and gents. As stated in other posts, purchased a incomplete 73 project that came in several boxes with some duplicates. So lets play our favorited childhood game of what doesn't belong here. Car is a original 400 auto. Which of these power steering pump assemblies belongs to the car. Will it be pump "A" or "B". a20210212_112452 (1).jpg a20210212_112529.jpg

Location
AZ Desert,
I'm going to guess A unless the later models used a different water pump housing

Did a bit of research and found out that for 73 and newer BB the power steering pump sits lower in the engine bay and only those blocks (73 and up) have the provision to install the bracket set up for the pump. So pump A is off a 72 or older engine, not off the roadrunner. Now I need to find out if the 400 block that I purchased will be the right one. Don't have it here now but will try to find out the casting #. For now I still can use pump A on my 71 440 that came with the project. I will later put in the 400 after it's rebuilt.
Also, for those that have a 73 RR what type of pump do you have. Saginaw or Federal.
