do you know the difference between the two? and can a 1970 440 carb work?68-69 Road runners with a manual used a carter 4615. Other 68 383 manuals used a carter 4426 according to my book
Cool do you have any or do you know where I can get one I was going to buy this one in California for 100 bucks that kind a looks OK but it probably needs a rebuild I think it’s at 4:40 1970 carburetor I just want to make sure the choke hooks upNot sure of any differences but yes a 440 carb will work.
Those are the numbers I should be looking for?Carter 4737 or 4739(California)
She always said bigger the better hahahhasize of carb should be in the 650 cfm range. don't go too big
Cool so that should work.My 68-74 book only shows 4968 which was used on 1971 440 auto cars
Yes true I forgot about that. Those were coming through with Holly’s also, replaced mine and seemed to be better than the Carter. 5 more HP, at least that was the consensus half a century ago, hmm.

Probably and 71 the 440 was detuned comparable with the 68 383 engine?

Yes true I forgot about that.
What CFM Holley or carb number?
I just got a 600 CFM with electric choke for free it’s a polished carburetor I put it on for now
i think the Larger secondaries would be great reminds me of a quadrajet carb.View attachment 28209
Yes, believe that’s when compression ratios were lowered, more smog stuff added, unleaded gas in use and went from Gross to Net horsepower advertising. A lose-lose combo. Oh too, the tamper proof carb screws showed up around then also. Always wondered how a Spread Bore would work with the larger secondaries- never tried.
