Gas tank vent tubes and lines

Can anyine share a picture of the vent lines from under the car connecting to the tank? I've looked for past posting and have located the post discussing a leak. No clear pictures of the lines connecting.

Thanks this helps! Here is a picture of my tank installed. It looks different from yours, I have one main gas line out with two vents.

I now know why I cannot find the second vent tube, the previous owner must have cut it off. Looks like I am going to run some extra tubing. Any hints or advice?

Just take about a foot of rubber fuel hose and run it up and turn the last couple inches back down and use plastic ties to keep it in place. It wouldn't hurt to make it longer if you can find a place to run it.

Ok right to left. Short upside down J that goes up toward the floor and turns down. Next is the one that goes up into the trunk threw a grommet and goes back down into the right frame rail. The next two are the Hemi and 440 6bbl 3/8 inch pickup which I would recommendd for any car because it has a return from the engine along with the pickup, although you could use the extreme right one as a return from engine if needed. This helps with vapor lock. I do have more pics don't I Bill :acme:

I was looking through old threads on this subject and came across this. My car was originally a 383 but now has a 440 6 bbl. On the 440 cars, what did the return line connect to on the engine side?

Hemi and 440s had the 3/8 line and return to a vapor separator next to the fuel pump. the return goes from the separator to the tank.

OK, so the next question is do you know where I can get a vapor seperator for a 1/4" line? I want to go with a 3/8 fuel line and all the sending units I can find have a 3/8 main and a 1/4" return. Or better yet, do you have a source for a 3/8 sending unit without the 1/4 return line?

Don't you mean left to right? (Not right to left as you wrote)
Isn't the tank internal line that is closest to the sender the long line that connects to the short J line outside the tank? Then the line that goes to the trunk connects to the internal short line?.

Yep you are right, some of the after market tanks have the reversed so one should look into the tank. I think you said on Moparts you had looked inside.

I did and mine is oem correct. The reason why I asked is because I'm really trying to nail down this problem. So yours is an aftermarket flipped line tank? Thanks for the replies from a frustrated runner owner:thumbsup:

So this picture here then shows an aftermarket tank with the lines reversed? I believe the long line should be on the right, closest to the sender. I have the original tank from my 69 still, and scoped it the other day, the long line is on the right.
If this is your tank then the way you described the order of exterior line connection would be correct for this tank only (and others that are reversed from aftermarket suppliers)?

My original posted pic from under my car I can't edit but yes the long vent into the trunk is far right like the service manual pic I posted

Yes, I've seen that net picture before too. And yes those are reversed from oem. My original scoped the opposite as did the tank in my car now which was a NOS tank bought from mopar in 1996.

For others out there, check this before installing your aftermarket tanks!! Very important.

As an aside, I still can't for the life of me figure out why mine seems to be pressurizing though? I'm going to rescope the tank in the car now to see if the long line goes all the way to the back and stays up high enough (i.e.) doesn't drop down into the gas or something. Just would really like to figure this out.

I suspect the newer gas, I can't explain it but nobody had trouble before the blended gas. I wonder if it expands in volume more, and these cars never stunk up a garage like they do now. I noticed the smell is worse with a Carter than a Holley

I have also noticed more gas smell in the garage. could be something to do with the ethanol and especially summer blend of gas. I have noticed my truck knocks much more in summer than in the winter.
