I used PC7 puddy sanded primed and painted. I put it away in a hot garage and it still looks good 10 years later. The OER wheel I put on the car at the same time developed a fine crack 4 years later and that's in an air conditioned garage with very little use.
The only issue Ive seen is the nuts can come loose with the hot and cold cycles and start burning the board. Make sure the board is good and the nuts are tight.

If you are going to continue racing the car the air cleaner and air grabber under the hood are worth some bucks to a restorer. I don't have a right fender.
