This car is so cool. 1947 Chrysler New Yorker. It's parked where I keep my Road Runner. Never really paid attention to it as it was parked on a lift and in the corner. It's mostly original, but converted to Disc brakes & a 12 Volt system. Originally the interior was gray, so the owner made the decision to go with the tan. Was built in Detroit in the same factory where they made Sherman Tanks in WWII so the family nick named it "Sherman". The original owner had the car from 1947-63 and it sat. Apparently back then you had a lottery number and which ever car came off the line, that's what you got when your number came up. The owner wanted a 4-door sedan and got a 2-door convertible. In 1963 the owner's Uncle bought the car, it had 25K miles on it. In 1969 he got married and the car sat again in the garage with 47K miles. It was an 18.5' car parked in a 16' garage with a tarp over the front end. In 2014 the owner turned 75, none of his children wanted or had the means to restore it, so he contacted his Nephew who purchased it from him. It was a mess. He never really liked the car, but restored it for his Mom and Uncle to appreciate. The interior was done in Ferrari leather and cost $30K alone. The top is blue whereas the original top was white. The car was completed in 2018 and has less than 100 miles on it since the restoration. He has all the resto receipts.
