340 CID?

Always a Road Runner fan, and wannabe owner. But for only one specific car! As a kid a neighbor down the street, maybe 3 or 4 years older than me, bought a brand new ‘69 orange, bench seat, 4 speed model. He took me for a number of rides and I have never forgotten it. Loved that car. But a question for you experts. I am 99.99% sure it had a 340 CID engine. This is a clear, solid memory. Not 383. My research suggests this was possible but that the 340 was not the standard engine. What’s the scoop on this?

`69 had three engine options - 383, Hemi or mid-year intro 440-6. The 340 was not available until `71 and continued to `73, in `74 the 360 replaced the 340.
