Was going to put 3.55 gears, but can't find them for the 742 case. Just ordered the 3.91 gears instead. Motive makes the 3.55 for the 489 and 741, but not the 742 case? Checked a couple other manufacturers as well and can't find them. Seems odd.

I just told them to hold off ordering the 3.91 gears until I heard from you guys. Where can I get the 3.55's for the 742 case?

Thanks,

John

Well, the 3.23 I have is 42 years old and wanted a little more punch off the line, but not too much that I can't cruise highway. The 3.55 @ 65 MPH will turn 2,982 RPM with 26 inch tires. The 3.91 turns at 3,284. Would love to keep it under 3,000 at 65. Not really sure if 26 inch tires is what I'll be using?? I suppose a 27 tire will turn less, but don't know about the tires yet.
Thanks,

John

Thanks. I think I'm going with the 3.91's.

I would have thought that the R&P for a 741 case would be the hard ones to find...

300 RPM is hardly worth mentioning. I would either stick with the 3.23 or switch to a 3.91.

Yes, decided on the 3.91. Got new gears and rebuilt the Sure Grip. Should push her off the line pretty well.
