It can be done.
You may also want to install the exhaust after the install.
Remember too that the less parts you have on the front of the motor the more clearance you will have at the radiator core support while putting the engine in.
It works best if you have an adjustable engine load leveler to be able to start out tilted and then be able to adjust to more of a horizontal angle.
As for the exhaust; if running stock HP exhausts; sometimes it's easier to have them pre-installed due to the tight fit of the 440 to the fender sides.
If putting on long tube headers; be prepared to lift the engine on the drivers side after it is in to clear the steering box. (especially if you have power steering)
And depending on the headers used be prepared to run a mini, hi torque starter.
The one header set I installed in a 69 Charger Daytona were high dollar ceramic coated "prefect fit" and had to be put in and taken out several times while we "massaged" them to their true "perfect fit".
Do you have the assembly dolly to roll it in from underneath? Unless you are putting it in on a dolly from underneath, it's very difficult to install the whole assembly from the top because you will hit the firewall and the radiator support, guaranteed. It's not worth saving a few minutes to avoid putting the trans in separately.
It Is doable. As previously suggested a tilt able lift plate ( I used the one shown. Worked great) and take your time. Cover the top of core support just in case.
