6 way seat frame restoration ?

Since I am repairing a stripped bolt on the seat back pivot bolt on a 69 GTX, I figured I might as well repaint and clean up the 6 way seat base. Were the 6 way seat base assemblies painted as a unit or were the springs painted a color and installed after the black was painted onto the frames? If so, what color should the spring(s) be?

Everything on mine appeared to be the same semi gloss black so I did it the same way
