What is the purpose of the opening in the top center of the 906 heads halfway under the manifold? I don't remember seeing it with the original intake.RR 383.jpg

Cross exhaust port. If your are talking about the hole middle ways where the intake holes are.
Thanks. Yes. That's the holes I'm talking about. Was it an emissions feature or what? Does it have a purpose with this manifold now? Can I cover it up somehow or paint it?

Paint it. The stock intake had a port that would warm the bottom of it for cold starts for fuel atomization.

Say Terry they sell a block off valley pan. Intake manifold gasket. That is what my motor guy put on my 383. Are the holes open on yours. Think we got ours from Jeg's. I can call him and ask again.

So your new intake dose not have the cross over I assume. Ok will give him a call and ask what to do about putting pressure on that part of the plate. Do you think the intake will put pressure on the cross over holes. With the block off valley pan. Just want to make it clear to him when I call.

The Valley pan will be fine. The horse shoe hole is there for well, I don't know. You could go aftermarket, $1200 will get rid of them.

Yes Jeg's he did not have a part number but said they will know what you need Terry. Will your intake put pressure on that area. That is what I was wondering. But tell the guy's at Jeg's what intake you have they are pretty good at knowing what you need. Hope this help's buddy. Russ.

Nothing to hold it down but I will check with them to see what I can do. Thanks for the advice.

Terry in your first post the picture shows the cross over is covered, the larger unpainted hole has nothing to do with the crossover below it.download.jpg

So dose the intake have a flat plate over the hole. If so then you should be fine with the new gasket. Then just paint what is showing.
