it looks pretty but who knows if its any good.....can you go there and look at it???you maybe taking a chance buying it if its bad

Yeah It's in California and I'm in VA so I'm probably going to pass. I think finding a local one would be better too. Now to find one...

Thanks for the response.

IMO $350 is cheap if its any good, but on a used A-833, there is always a chance the synchronizers are worn or cracked. The countershaft can develop side-to-side play (needle bearings worn) or the cluster gear might have end-to-end play (thrust washers worn). There are allowable tolerances on everything. You can ask the seller if it has newer (stronger) synchronizers, indicating a rebuild. They are detected by the wider synchro keys (3 per ring). And of course the bearings could be worn, or the main case might leak from one of several places. Not to scare you, if all the gears look good, these transmissions are very strong and everything I listed above is a wear item. The rebuild kit is cheap compared to the labor required to rebuild one.

give Jamie Passon a buzz. He's a great guy, and knows his stuff. Are you going to The Nats? He can have one there that you can pick up and save on the shipping. Got any old 4 speeds, Jamie buys those. I got one of his remans for my other car, swapped three cores and $200. great deal until the garage burned down.
