break in oils

THIS EXPLAINS IT WELL in my opinion: http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/motor-oil/racing/break-in-oil-(sae-30)/ It's not the brand of oil but the type you use and most important in the first 1000 miles.
Diesel oils used to be straight petroleum based and non-synthetic until just a few years ago and now they are subject to the fuel economy issues going on and they now have a lot of friction modifiers that are not good for breaking in an engine. The purpose blended and labeled "Break-In" oils are what you want to look for.
