I don't know if this is the right section to ask this so please move if necessary.

For the 1968 Road Runner I know that there were only two engine options- the 383 or the hemi. In 1969 the options were still the 383 or the hemi UNTIL 1969 1/2 where Plymouth offered the 440+6 as a mid point option between the 383 and the hemi. My question is:

Was there ever a 440 four barrel ever offered on the Road Runner for 1969 or 1969 1/2? I was always under the impression that the answer is 'no' but different sources on the internet say different things. I figure I'd just ask you guys. Was there ever a 440 four barrel engine offered on the 1969 and 1969 1/2 Plymouth Road Runners? Thanks for any input.

:yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: absolutly correct. Now when you go to car shows it seems like half the 69's you see have 440 's transplanted into them . That may cause alot of the confusion . 440 was a very easy drop in upgrade and horse power .

+3. No 440 4 bbl's for 1969. I'll also agree that at almost all "local" car shows someone has a 440 4 bbl. in a '68 or '69 RR.

my last '69 had a 440 4 barrel in it. But I put it there. :drive:
It seems like 90% of what you see at shows is incorrect. Seek guidance here.... :worship:

Just out of curiosity, how much does a 440 go for nowadays?

Now in 70 could you get the 440 4 barrel in a regular Roadrunner? I thought the base 440 was only offered in the Superbird.

Not in a regular road runner, no. Superbird, yes. Kinda weird. 440-6 BBL was the 440 option in the standard road runner.

Someday I might be one of those guys too. I still have a 440 sitting in the garage that needs a total rebuild. I guess I'll have to decide whether I want to stroke my 383, or build the 440.

I believe that a few Roadrunners came with a 440 4bbl in 70. I also think that one of the magazines had a feature on one of them in recent history.

Perhaps a few did - some factory reps and other bigwigs could get just about anything they wanted. But the 440-4bbl was never officially offered as an option to the general public.
