Engine Wiring Harness...

Gents...

I bought a new, OEM Engine wiring harness from classic industries for the 69’ Road Runner. The problem is that I have an Electrical Ignition and none of the OEM wires are matching up to my Voltage Regulator or Ballast Resistor... any thoughts, ideas or fixes? 5E69280C-B519-48EC-9CE9-CC5F9614C047.jpeg ^^^ Old Set up

Sad. May just have to send it back and get it form year one. I settled for year one on my wiring harness. That is what makes you sick when you buy something and wait for it to come and it don't work. Sorry buddy I feel you pain. :BangHead:

It's not the fault of the OEM style harness. It appears that you are using the '70 and later system so of course the OEM harness for a '69 will not work since it came with points. Also, the connectors you show in the top pic don't look like anything I've seen on my car or any other '69 RR I've seen. I would suggest you look up the FSM here on the site and check the wiring diagram for those wires. I'm sure there is a was to modify your system but I'm not sure how to do it. When I switched my car over to an electronics system I used Pertronics which was an easy install with no modifications needed to the wiring harness.

Deep breath, then get a wiring harness layout for both years and start tracing some wires to see what needs connected where. You can make the harness you have work. Just takes some time and perseverence

I believe they are correct with the above.

I still need to get the Pertronics points conversion kit myself. From what I’ve seen, it appears to be straight forward.

If it was me , I would keep that 70 style harness you have , better voltage regulator they went to in 70 and it uses a 4 prong resistor , just my 2 cents , that's what I'm planning on my current project, thinking seriously about doing it on my 68, already converted to electronic ignition

Are the bulkhead connectors shapes the same for 69 and 70?
It sounds like they are.
Maybe be a stupid question.
But I will be rewiring my engine 69 compartment and can modify wires as necessary if the bulkhead connectors are the same.
I'm going to run a FBO ECU and don't even need the resistor connections..
However, if I can get color coded wires, the firewall plugs and the engine plugs in this package it may be better than trying to piece something together from scratch.
I'll do some research too.
The last ECU wiring harness I got had a mis-fitting dist plug on it.
It wouldn't plug in.
One too short and one too long.
Had to cut and splice an old OE plug on it.
