Im getting ready to put one of the heads back on my 383, and want to make sure I put correct sealer/lube on each bolt. I planned to use teflon sealer on the bolts going in to the water jackets but with the engine drained of all fluid is there a way to tell which of the 17 head bolts need this sealer as opposed to normal anti seize? Thanks,Bob

The head bolts in big block Mopar are dry, no need for sealant. I use 40 weight oil myself.

Well I guess thats what I get for reading instructions. On the Fel Pro sheets they all say dont use motor oil, I was planning on just dipping the threads in some 10/30 and torque em....., but was scared off by reading that.

If the block and bolt are dry the bolt pops as you torque it, and you can't get a true torque on the bolt.

Always dip the bolt and let excess run off. Never put oil in the bolt hole. If there is to much oil in the hole, you will get a hyd. lock and not get a true torque reading.
