Header Screws Coolant leak

Had this problem and fixed it !

Maybe it helps somebody with the same problem !

If the antifreeze is leaking from your headder screws like this:

you need this:

Here some pictures from what I´ve done....


On this picture you can see the problem with the green coolant coming from the header screw hole...running around my sparkplug all the way down to the oil pan.

I drained the coolant...

I was suprised how clear the coolant is looking ! You can even see the bottom of the bucket !!!! Looks great !

this is what I used - RTV and something we call Teflonband in Germany.

I wrapped the Teflon around the bolt...

Put the RTV around...

screw it in .... DONE !

Don´t forget to refill the coolant ! :yesnod:
 
it´s the only way to keep it sealed.

know many people with that problem who changed their headers.

they tried a lot but this is what helped.

with the original studs - no red crap needed ! :yesnod:

:yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: been there, done that. I used the original short studs to hang my tti headers so no leaks here...
 
Regular old blue rtv......worked great for me..........I love the way you took pictures of the process though.........good job.

that's what mine has too.
 
naw, we;ve got the red here too. we sold it at the IH dealer, probably Permatex.
