Interesting information, if it's true.

So, in my never-ending job of researching problems on my Runner, I came across something called "Typical Accessory Current Draw (AMPS)." If this is accurate, I'm amazed at some of these numbers. It came from www.procarcare.com I don't know how to post a PDF here so I'll list some of the common ones:

Headlights (high beam): 10 - 22 AMPS
Headlights (low beam): 40 AMPS - can that really be true??
Tail lights: 8 AMPS
Turn signals: 10-15 AMPS
Wipers: 6 - 20 AMPS
Radio: 10 AMPS
A/C: 10 AMPS (seems low)

Using the low end of these numbers, my car easily hits in the 90 AMP draw range. I understand it's not a constant draw, but seems maybe the AMP requirements of these Runners may be a little more that we're all thinking.

Let's do some math....

Let's say your headlights are 55 watts (that's what I found for a modern light bulb) and your charging system puts out 14 volts.

Power (watts) = voltage * current (amps)

4 headlights @ 55 watts = 220 watts.

220 watts = 14 volts * 15.7 amps.

So 4 headlights are 15.7 amps

2 headlights are 7.8 amps

1157 tailight bulb is 27 watts for the brake lights and 8 watts for the running lights.

and so forth......
