N96 Airgrabber installation on 69RR

Is there a perfered order of installing the 3 main components the airgrabber assembly? I just got done restoring an old assembly and ready to install- I don't want to brake anything... Thanks

It might show you something in the manuals on here. Know some have put them on cars that did not have them. Have you tried the search box also.

Hi Russ. I looked in the service and parts manuals here and found the assembly, but no mention on install or removal process. I was just hoping To get some reply from someone who has installed one. I know I have a N96 hood as some of the original attach rivets were still in it, I didn’t want to start riveting it all in and have alignment issues with either the center section or side units. So any help any of you out there who have installed one of these would really be appreciated.

I think 521 restorations sells the install hardware. I took mine off so long ago but don’t recall anything unusual. Center piece first then side pieces. Only one cable to open/close.
You said you restored yours…what did you do to it? Mine is in decent shape except may be a bit discolored think is has sort of gone grey.

Hi Jack. I bought mine from Tony Parts and it was in rough shape, but well documented by Tony’s Parts and he had the parts to repair it included. I cleaned it up and repaired/install the damaged part and put a new finish on it. I assumed you would install the center section first and then the sides, but didn’t know if you could assemble it and put it in as an assembly. I’ll attach some before and after pics. I have all the attach hardware

Nice job, that looks good. Mine isn’t broken at all. A couple minor cracks but no missing material. I have an extra set of the outer pieces too. I had sent mine up to the guy in Ohio to get restored just before the pandemic…but he lost his crew and sent it all back to me. So I’ll have to work that later.

It is a slow process. The hard part was replacing the damaged area and getting the replacement piece blended in. That was my last winter project. Good luck with your restoration project ...

Thank you Russ, I really enjoy doing that kind of restoring, but working out of a two stall garage shop wouldn't work for a business. Hope you're having fun with your Runner...
