Greetings Everyone!
Allow myself, to introduce.....myself?!? I live in Central Illinois around the Edwardsville and Litchfield area. I have been a Mopar fan since I could drive. My buddies and me all had high-school jobs, no real expenses and pooled our money together and bout a 1971 Charger for $3,000 in 1994 in Sesser IL. I was hooked from the "get-go". I remember cruising the streets in that Charger and bringing it to DuQuoin IL's Street Machine Nationals at 16 and 17 years old. Life couldn't have been better!
But, had way too much fun in that car and decided to join the Marines. Got Married had/have a great family. Got a degree in Mechanical Engineering....Long story short...I put owning my own Classic Mopar Muscle Car dreams on hold for a while.
Well folks....Time was up this February 2025. Throughout the decades, I had always kept my eyes out for a deal: remembering the good ol days when you could scoop up a runner or a roller for a couple grand. Those days were long gone. It seemed that those old cars and trucks had become quite popular and folks were giving them a new life! I had saved enough scratch to purchase this 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner. (See attached pictures).
She is rough!
Bad News:
- (H96) No 330 HP 4-BBL 383 CI Engine
- (D21) No 4-Speed A833Transmission
- No Drive Shaft
- Front Windshield - AC Option (2) Spots: Custom spiderwebbing across entire windshield - free.
- No Trunk Pan and Extensions
- No Gas Tank
- No rear Bumper
- Rust - Need a tetanus shot looking at it.
- (H2T) No High Level Interior Trim Remaining - Missing Rear Seat.
- (N96) No - Fresh Air Hood: even though originally equipped
- No - Rear Window/Windshield Trim
Good News: (included)
- (D21) 4 speed manual Car: Just purchased the A-833 (Non original 1977 with OD) that will be rebuilt. Many thanks to Clay and Sons in Catawissa MO!
- (V21) Non-Original performance Hood, fenders, Trunk lid, Rear Quarters, all there but will need to be patched.
- Front Bumper, headlight bezels and cowling all there and will need to be restored
- Dash, instrument cluster and instrument panel
- (J25) 3 Speed Wipers and Wiper Motor
- 440 having rebuilt a Performance Automotive in Bethalto Il. I chose to have the block painted in Turquoise, so this creates a bit of a OEM dilemma for me.
Anyhoo...you get the picture! She was originally (T5) Bronze Metallic. I would really like to go back with that color, however; my wife and kids have a different opinion: B5 Blue, DR4 Alpine White or DR4 Bright Red. My favorite color is Green but I already have a 2021 F8 Green Challenger RT SCAT/PACK. My family states they are tired of looking at my cars and thinking about underwear Poop Stains...Gotta Love it!
Current Status:
Prepping for chemical dipping at ProStrip Indy in Indianapolis. It the closest place I could find that would return my phone calls. Suggestions and recommendations welcome. I will make another post regarding what I have currently done in preparation for chem dipping.
Thanks for reading!
