Posted this in one of the other Mopar forums, thought I'd share here.

This is just an observation but yesterday I picked up an order of air and oil filters from NAPA. One thing I noticed right away is that all of their packaging has revision labels on them. One of these revision labels reads CONTENTS MADE IN CHINA. Then you can see beneath the label, its covering up what used to be printed on the box; CONTENTS MADE IN USA.

The other NAPA Gold air filter I bought is Made In Mexico.

I realize this is just the way of the world now with the global economy and all. The thing that saddened me a bit is when I compared the Made In Mexico WIX/NAPA Gold air filter to the Made In China WIX/NAPA Gold air filter, the quality difference is well apparent. The Mexican made filter is of much better quality.

Anyway it's just too bad that as where the WIX/AFFINIA group could be a trusted source for quality parts, it's now questionable.

That's to bad, I use to out of my way to buy the gold oil filters. :mad-new:

Well, the NAPA Platinum oil filters I bought are US made. I'd imagine the Gold oil filters would be too. It's the NAPA Gold air filters you want to watch out for. Before you buy one, double check to see where its made. If it's American or Mexican, you should be fine. If its Chinese, it's total dog $h*!

it really says something when we prefer "Made in Mexico"......

its almost like what isnt made in china.......i was told that if it is printed U.S.A. its made in america......if there are no periods after the letters its made in china.....wtf

I remember my 7th grade History teacher teling us about a South Pacific island that so admired this country that they changed their name to USA (no periods). Never heard any thing about there anywhere else.

I remember seeing that story on 60 minutes about 25 years ago! Same thing, an island named "USA".

A few years ago Chicago Electric which is the tool line for Harbor Freight bought most of those old standby tool companies, so not only are the made in China they are owned in China. Your Harbor Freight dollars at work :toetap:

It's a damn shame that so much what we took for good American made quilaty is gone forever and made overseas now.
I collect old electric trains, mostly Lionel. I love looking at the builder's plate on a steam engine and see "Made in New York". Then like all the other train manufactures, they moved all their manufacturing to China and Korea. That's when I quit buying any new stuff.
