Tick tick tick tick tick....the annoying sound of an
exhaust leak.

Put the new starter in (the powermaster type) and the
car does this remarkable thing now...it starts.

Anyway, I now obviously have an annoying exhaust
leak at the head (running headers by the way). If
there is a particular high quality product that any
of you would recommend for such a dilemma please
speak up. Average Mr. Gasket header gasket isn't
getting it done right now.

i hear alot of people talking about these. look for them at amazon.com

http://www.remflex.com/

i have not used them yet. the first thing i would try is running a flat file over the header flange to see if there are any high spots.

Go to tti's website and get a set of their header gaskets. I've had tti headers on my car since '03. Had to drop the headers when I replaced some driveline parts (long story about a dropped driveshaft at the drag strip) some years ago (maybe 4 or so) and that is the only time I've needed to replace the gaskets. They are top notch.
Part number is GA-HG24-440-2 and cost is $24.00 /set.
Go to http://ttiexhaust.com/Gaskets/Gaskets.htm or order them form Mancini Racing
http://www.manciniracing.com
PS - before you get new gaskets make sure your header flange isn't warped. If it is you'll have a terrible time trying to get a seal no matter what gaskets you use.

I just ordered a set of Remflex. Should be in by midweek. A lot of positive replies and they have a money back guarantee. Hopefully there are now complications removing the exhaust manifold.

A lot of good write ups on the remflex product out there.

Based upon not having a leak before the work to the starter
I would hope the warp isn't so severe that it can't be handled
by what we discussed here.

I use gaskets and Permatex Copper Hi-Temp RTV. I swear by this stuff. I have used it on three or four cars now and never had another exhaust leak. I know some people talk about using the TRV without a gasket and I have done that too. I works fine by itself but I feel better with the gasket in place.
