What would be the best rpm's to idle the 383

900rpms stick/700rpms in drive auto that's what mine are

IMHO, I always set them as low as they can and still idle smoothly. That will vary from car to car depending on how they are set up.

Ok , so adjust idle to lowest setting so long as it idles smoothly .

I will try all the above , got to be one of them right ? Fine tuning the idle is the last thing on the list , for now .

yes....every engine is different
