I need torsion mount frame repair caps for both sides.

I see Year One has them for $375...big shocker on their overpriced items.

A company called Classic Industries has them for $234 for the pair.

I haven't dealt with either company before. I know from this site that Year One is way overpriced.
Think they're the same items but priced differently?

Anyone ever installed the caps and have a company/brand they're satisfied with?

I'd be surprised if they weren't the same parts manufactured by the same company for both distribution outlets - just with VERY different pricing...

I think Chris has commented on these before...maybe he will chime in. I've never used them...

Alex,

I know your trying to stop the hemorrhaging, but I would replced the crossmember. These caps are just a temporary fix and most people just install them over the rusty parts that will continue to rust. Call AMD and get a replacement crossmember. :cents:

After doing some research this morning, I hear what you're saying Chris.
There's no sense in repairing it when I can get a brand new one for the same price. I bought the whole AMD crossmember from A Deals for $360 shipped! Year one wants more than that for 2 caps? The can "pound sand" as someone on here once stated.
Thank for the help guys!

On a side note, I ordered new torque boxes for the front and rear from a company on ebay. They accidently sent me the boxes for an e body car. No problem, and they're fixing it right away.
Is there anything I'm missing here that go with the boxes?

Is this relative to the "Classic Industries" or "US Car Tool"? US Car Tool's customer service is some of the best I've ever experienced. Not sure about their products though...I'll keep you posted.

US Car Tool also make frame rail connectors for under the floor pan. I'm considering purchasing them. Anyone using this item? It would be nice to have the extra support, especially in a 114,000 mile Michigan convertible.

Im glad you were thinking the same thing. Sometimes its rough to hear different thoughts.

Classic Industries is in the city I work for. They have cheap reproduction parts that dont fit just like all the other cheap repops. I have quite the experience between the Camaro and Chevelle parts bought from them over the years. Its kinda hit and miss as to what is good and what is bad. The Chinese chrome last about 6 months on a garage kept car before it looks worse than the 40 year old part you replaced.

I'm always open to different thoughts, especially good ones!
I'm really happy I went with the full crossmember. I didn't know AMD made one.

Any thoughts on the US Car Tools frame rails?

Call and see if they make them or just resell. Everything they make seams to be high quality that I have seen

Looks good Stu!
I agree the connectors are a must have, especially with the vert. I'm going to order the US Car Tools connectors this week.
