I think you have the wrong tail shaft. The housing from the trans to the end is about 16.5" and the mount center is about 7.5" from the trans, at least it is on my 18 spline

my tailshaft is 16.5 inches and about 4.75 to the center of the mount. I had it mocked up with the auto crossmember not the 4spd one maybe I will just use the auto one, untill I can get the right tail shaft

Is your shifter going to fall in the right place? Just wondering if this is an A-body or some other housing ?

shifter is right where it should be was told the trans was for b or e body ,casting on the trans was PP 833 1070 so from what I checked its a 833trans build on 10/1970 correct? it has 2 shifter mounting plates
I had an A-body trans wasn't even close to fitting thats why I got this one

I had this very same problem. Many years ago, so my memory is kinda crappy (just ask my wife). I believe the 71 and newer b-body trans is different in the trans mount. I had a 68 that I had to make a new mount on the crossmember to put a 71 up trans in it. Bottom line is you will need to fab a new mount. I know someone here has more info for you, Ray?
