Hi guys,
I just found this site during a google search and i was wondering if anyones used them? I've heard horror stories about hoods not lining up or needing alot of work. So i thought i would check and see if these hoods are any good? The price is right but that usually needs more work on my end?
http://www.up22.com/road68.htm
part# is PL-114 (1968 & 69 Road Runner Replica Hood with Six Pack Scoop (NOTE: Fits RR, GTX, & Belvedere), Pin front)
Anyways thanks for any help you can contribute,
~Nick

Thanks for the warning, What was wrong with it if you don't mind me asking? I've heard good stuff about AAR. I'll have to think about spending that much... lol Now you said you have/had one on your runner right? Do you think it would get annoying on a daily driver? Probably not good to drive in the rain with one? Not that i would do it on purpose but if it started raining while i was out with it

Unlimiteds products quality is pretty poor. I had a hood from them and a couple of friends had hoods from them too. They dont fit well and they lack reinforcement in the right areas. George is right about AAR they have nice products.

do yourself a favor and dont buy one....like chris said poor quality /lack of reinforcement/fits like crap and when painted it shows all the stress cracks....save up for quality

About 10 years ago I got the YO hood. Not sure who makes them but have been told they are exclusive to YO. Worth it. :chuck:

Can't speak for any others.

Yep, I have an AAR fiberglass bolt on hood. Fit was pretty good. No complaints so far. Even though I bought the "bolt on" I have 4 pins installed like the 69 1/2's. I paid around $550 or so a few years ago IIRC.

Cool Dobie, that's what I'd like to do since mine isnt the real deal I think bolt on will be easier but pins will give it the look I want. So the pins in the rear fit with the hinge?

I have the same hood and also use the 4 pins. Can't go wrong with AAR.

Well, I actually dont know. I dont use any hinges. Mine is secured only by the 4 pins. True 69 1/2 style.

that's excatly what it is. Steve(Dobie) bought a bolt on type hood, just didn't bolt it onto the hinges, preferring to do the hood pins ala '69 1/2 style. If I get one, I'll get the bolt on and use the hinges.

Couldnt've said it better myself. I bought the "bolt on" by mistake. Once I realized what I had, I decided to use it anyways, giving me the option down the road.

well Steve why don't you get the pin on hood. I'm sure we could find someone to take that bolt on off your hands...... :yesnod:

I saw a car (Monster Mopar) that had a lift off hood with fake hood pins. He had the look of the 69 1/2 and the convience of hinges. He just cut the pins off and fixed them to the hood, and used the hinges and latch. I thought that was very slick. The best of both worlds.
