The fender tag is pretty ate up with battery acid but I could make these numbers out:

X9
D21 925 211259

Does that tell us anything.

I know the X9 is upper door paint, but I don't know what color.

D21 tells us the trans I'm fairly sure its a 4 speed

Thanks,
Barry

925 should be a Sept 25, 1968 build date. X9 is black. D21 is 4 speed. 211259 is either your VIN number or the sequence number.

Someone more versed in fender tags needs to jump in here.

BTW, that 925 build date means no head rests.

Black on the doors and rear panel, 4 spd. and build date of September 25th I'm guessing this is a Lynch rd tag.

Thanks, it makes sense. Though the interior is all aprt, whats there is black. Its suppose to be an early 69, but Sep 68? Sounds right though.

I appreciate all the help. Try and post pictures later.

Thanks again,
Barry

The tag looks very Lynch Roadish to me... Another thing I noticed about these early '69 cars is the round fuel filler hole in the rear frame rail. It changed to oval somewhere along the line ... Or maybe a plant or vendor thing? Oh yes, and the model year production began in August. What you have is a very early '69 model. Maybe 6 weeks into production?

OK, I thought that shoulder belts and headrests were Federally mandatory after 1/1/68.......

My '68 was built Novemer 1967, no headrests or shoulder belts.

Shoulder belts in 68, head rests in 69.
