Super excited about this local find. Now comes the questions regarding restoration.

Do you guys know of any links or videos to restoring the Air Grabber section on this hood? It appears that the brackets holding the whole setup to the hood have some type of rivets that are not removable. But then again, some parts on it such as the rubber seal, seem pretty easy to remove via screws.

Just curious how some of you have restored this. The flaps still work great, however the fiberglass has cracked in a few spots and I'd like to get it apart so I can repair as well as paint the hood.

Any tips are appreciated!

Here are some of the rivets I was questioning....how do you remove these and what to you replace them with?

You will have to drill the rivets to remove. They are available on eBay and most resto parts houses.

how nice do you what it? dip the hood, you can buy used or new parts and mint it out-rivets and do you have the air cleaner?

I don't need it crazy nice. I'm just getting my RR repainted to be just a good looking driver. So with the hood, i was planning on taking off the duct work and repairing some of the cracks/breaks and having the hood painted.

I do not have the air cleaner. So I'll to attempt to collect a few more parts.

cool find, good luck, I saw the air-grabber being reproduced & sold by http://VintageAutoWorks.com/a-b-e-body.html , not sure it will help or not, disclaimer; I've never used any of their stuff, I have no idea of quality or origin, I just found it by chance, looking for other stuff...

the rivets can be bought at ace hardware for a fraction of what they are asking. Ace part number 2014405

And that my friends is what makes this sight so great. Sharing information just like this to our Road Runner brothers.
