Yea Big John that the way somethings are and your rite about the age. I would probably just buy a new one and be done with it. Thanks for the head's up. A lot of my car is getting thrown in the scrap pile and putting on new. We all respect your knowledge of these car's and thanks again. Russ.

The problem with the new one is quality... Is the new Chinese switch at twice the price better than the rebuild at half the price?

It's a question that people really need to ask themselves while doing restorations.

Sounds like a ground issue, check the chassis ground and make sure the dash cluster is grounded. If all is good, you need to look at the back of the printed circuit on the cluster and make sure there is not a break in the ground circuit, follow the black ground wire and make sure it is actually grounding the cluster. Use a temporary jumper wire for testing

Just off the top of my head... Maybe a bulb and a power source. Measure voltage drop as you wheel the rheostat up and down. Convert voltage drop to ohms.

Then chant "ohm" and remember that resistance is futile.

Yea better do that before the snow flies. As you know still doing body work on this car. Getting closer. Working on the trunk pan and the tail light buckets. When done with the back on to the passenger side quarter. Have test fitted the roof. Making progress. Hope to be painting the car by spring when the bug's and weather is better for painting. Looks like it will take another year to finish the car from top to bottom. Lets see some inside pic's of the your car. I will need a lot of Ideas when I get to this area. Your Bud Russ. :kartman: Just one more thing to do then another!!!!!
