Hello i'm new here from London, England, just bought a 70 Satellite.

Is anyone running 70 profile tyres on 15’s ? Any pics ? I just want to get an idea of much taller they look as opposed to 50 or 60 profile tyres.

I want to change the current wheels and get a set of 15's but I can't let the car get any lower because the electric exhaust cutouts sit quite low so I want to maybe go with a 70 profile tyre to make the car sit a bit higher, plus I like the old school drag car kind of look with the rear sitting higher etc, i've never been a fan of big wheels on these old cars, I much prefer more tyre.

Not a Plymouth I know but the car in the link is the kind of look I want

I'm thinking 15 x 8 with 285/70/15 on the rear and 15 x 7 with 235/70/15 on the front ? Would that work ? The wheels I want have a 3.75 inch backspace.

The wheels on my car currently are 18 x 9.5 with 265/40/18 tyres at the rear.

And 18 x 8 or 9 at the front with 235/45/18 tyres.

I don't like them much, they would probably look good on a modern Mustang or something but I don't think they suit my car.

My car below

Many thanks

Welcome to the site and welcome from the peach state with the wave nice ride sweet rims, and by the way I would love that 69 1/2 super bee sweet ride

Welcome from The Colonies! Great looking car, not a fan of the big wheels either. Mine has 7" with 2357015s on the front, and 8" with 2756015s on the back.

Nice car, wow that looks like it sits quite high at the rear, is that stock suspension height or you have gas shocks?

when I got the car, it sat low in the back because the PO had removed some of the leaves. We added another main leave with the eyes cut off, plus two shorter leaves. I like the rake of the day two look.

Welcome from the Pacific Northwest. I have 2756015s on the back and 2357015s on the front. Both the front and back have 4 1/2” backspacing. Nice looking car!

Do you think 285/70/15 would be too wide on the rear with the 3.75in backspace ? They do 255/70/15 and 265/70/15 also

I decided to go with six leaf springs like on the hemi with 2and 1/2 inch recurve springs. That way no air shocks or gas to raise the rear end. We used longer shackle in the 60 and 70 to get the height we wanted but the springs suffered in the end. So that is what made me order the recurve spring's. We use to get springs from under 3/4 ton truck to do the same thing back in the day. Ride was a little stiff but we where young. Good luck and welcome to the forum. From Fla Russ.

Ive been searching for this mysterious tire size for ages, BFG lists is in their catalogue, but Im yet to find one, please let me know if you do!

Interms of size and backspace, I also pulled some 18's off my bird when I bought it and but some 15x8's on. the fronts are 235's, rears 275 60's. 4 1/2 backspace. I also have a couple of 15x10's Id like to put on the rear, one has a 5 1/2 backspace (off the shelf from wheelvintiques.com) the other I had welded up locally is a 5 3/4 backspace. It wil fit a 295 tire on a b-body without the need for leaf spring relocation.

Good luck in your search!IMG20190317173855.jpg IMG20190317173913.jpg

Think i'm going to go 15's

Pretty sure on the rear....

15 x 8 with 275/60/15 with 3.75" backspace

15 x 7 front with 3.75" backspace but i'm a bit unsure on the tyres, I need a fairly tall tyre because I can't go less than my current ones which are 26.3" tall because any lower the cutouts will hit on speed bumps etc

So i'm thinking either 225/70/15 or 245/60/15

Does these sizes fit ok on a 15 x 7 at the front ?

Can't go 235/60/15 because these are a shorter tyre than my current fronts

Thanks

With miss matched tire's what will you do for a spare. Had that problem with a car had 60's on the front and 70's on the rear. The height is what was killing me. Just a thought. I don't mind a narrow tire on the back to get me home.

Speaking of spare, you have to also keep in mind that 2 different size tires on the back will trash a sure grip (if so equipped) in a hurry.

The only thing i'm concerned about is the 275/60/15 15 x 8 on the rear with the 3.75" backspacing ?
